Namely, I purchased myself an expensive SCART to VGA converter to get a few RGB-outputting gadgets to display on my Optoma DLP projector, which accepts 50\/60 Hz modes with composite sync through the first VGA port. The brick was pretty hard to find, too. For the sake of testing I had already bought a generic cheap-ass cable, which didn&#8217;t work. As it turns out, the &#8220;special&#8221; adapter doesn&#8217;t do much more than rewire a SCART plug directly to VGA and connect <em>csync<\/em> to <em>hsync<\/em>. By cutting and soldering one wire even the five euro cable started working fine. Here&#8217;s a rough pinout so that you, dear reader, don&#8217;t need to spend 50 euros on a trivial cable:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>VGA \u2013 SCART \u2013 purpose<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1 \u2013 15 \u2013 <span style=\"color: #800000;\">red<\/span><\/li>\n<li>2 \u2013 11 \u2013 <span style=\"color: #008000;\">green<\/span><\/li>\n<li>3 \u2013 7 \u2013 <span style=\"color: #333399;\">blue<\/span><\/li>\n<li>4 \u2013 nc<\/li>\n<li>5 \u2013 nc (gnd by VGA spec)<\/li>\n<li>6 \u2013 13 \u2013 red gnd<\/li>\n<li>7 \u2013 9 \u2013 green gnd<\/li>\n<li>8 \u2013 5 \u2013 blue gnd<\/li>\n<li>9 \u2013 nc<\/li>\n<li>10 \u2013 17 \u2013 csync gnd<\/li>\n<li>11 \u2013 nc<\/li>\n<li>12 \u2013 nc<\/li>\n<li>13 \u2013 19 \u2013 csync<\/li>\n<li>14 \u2013 nc<\/li>\n<li>15 \u2013 nc<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, the shield of the VGA plug is connected to the SCART shield, but that might not be necessary. The RGB grounds might not be needed either, but don&#8217;t take my word for it.
